The Great Soulmate Debate

Potential soulmates Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (Photo: Getty Images) I love my husband, but he’s not my soulmate. Not that anyone else is, either. I?m not looking around or anything. Why not? Because I don?t believe soulmates exist. I?m pretty sure this long-held belief makes me unromantic, but I?m also pretty sure it?s the reason I have a solid marriage. Five years ago, on a sunny spring Saturday outside my parents? home, my wedding vows went something like this: ?Hi there. So, I don?t believe that people are ?meant to be together.? I also don?t think there?s only one person in the world for you, and if you don?t find that person you?ll never be happy. I?m not into destiny. I?m into choice. You choose the person you want to be with?and ...

Why Are So Many Teens Depressed?

Entertainment Tonight recently reported that TV and music star Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide last Friday in Los Angeles. In his suicide note, he described a life-long battle with depression, the reason for his suicide. Osmond said Michael became depressed after she and her ex-husband, Brian Blosil, separated, and that he entered rehab in November 2007. Why Tiger Woods Need Not Apologize to Us

When Tiger Woods held a press conference last Friday to explain where he’s at in his life, I got this feeling that we were looking into someone’s personal and private life in a manner that felt a little silly. After all, what business is it of ours — the public — what this sports celebrity does in his personal life? Then again, one could apply the same logic to virtually any celebrity and our seemingly-endless obsession with following the private lives and failings of celebrities. Entire print publications and weekly magazines are devoted to the following of celebrities’ lives, as well as popular websites like TMZ.com. We love to follow other people’s lives — it takes our minds off of our own mundane (and often less-than-ideal) existence. It explai...

Mel Gibson - Some celebrities would benefit from a sober companion Everyday people in recovery often turn to 12 Step Fellowship support groups or an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) sponsor when they face a possible relapse, but some celebrities and other wealthy addicts are turning to paid “sober companions” to help maintain their sobriety, the New York Times reported.
