Remembering the Pioneers

"The current success, of Avril Lavigne, "Feist," Nellie Furtano,"Finger Eleven," "Hedley," Jully Black, Meassha Brueggergosman, "Nickelback," Michael Buble and many others," says Stan Klees, co-founder of the Juno Awards, "wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the struggling Canadian recording artists who, from 1964 to 1994, pioneered the Canadian sound and slowly brought Canada into the foreground. These performers, composers, lyricists and producers led the way for the current crop of Canadian successes to create the Canadian Music explosion, the sound heard round the world.

"It is good," says Klees, "to be reminded of the hits of the past that made the future possible."
